This event has ended.

Denise Bibro Fine Art presents David Barnett’s fourth solo exhibition with the gallery, Remains To Be Seen.

Barnett creates his intricate collages and constructions with a combination of found objects and imagination. He gathers society’s excess of mechanical objects to ultimately expose humanity’s frivolous attempts at exceeding nature with industrialization, constantly discarding older technological materials in lieu of advancement. Barnett’s transformations of rejected machinery into works of art involve techniques of automation, revealing that no person is an exception to technology’s grip on society.

Barnett’s ilk is object construction, assemblage, and collage. Exploring his sensibilities and combining his love for found objects and experimentation, he forms an artistic palate that is essentially limitless. The finished products are “detailed mixed media constructions that create intimate worlds with connections between the past and the present” by portraying an assortment of Victorian imagery, ancient anatomical diagrams, flying machines, and mechanical elements.

Besides having several solo exhibitions with Denise Bibro Fine Art, Barnett has had solo exhibitions at Maryland Institute College of Art, Baltimore, MD; Upstream Gallery, Dobbs Ferry, NY; St. Andrew’s School, Middletown, DE. and the Brownstone Gallery, Brooklyn, NY. Numerous group shows include Gallery Henoch, Allan Stone Gallery, and the Armory Show, all in NYC; Katonah Museum of Art, Southampton Art Fair, Mamaroneck Artist Guild, The Maryland Federation of Art, Westchester Arts Council, Futura Gallery, Stockholm, Sweden; The Blue Door Gallery, and Benton Nyce Gallery, among others. He has been profiled in The New York Times, Idea magazine, and Print magazine. Barnett has held teaching positions at Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, and the School of Visual Arts.
