These artists are a unique breed within the art world and I feel they ought to be revered and respected as national treasures, since they lead the rest of us down new paths, into dark corners, and before awe-inspiring vistas.”

This exhibition celebrates the diverse work of Andy Golub and Jean-Guerly Pétion, the kind of rare artists who question, innovate, challenge, and restlessly reach for something both transcendent and universal in the human spirit.
About the Artists:
Andy Golub makes New York City his canvas with outdoor murals, painted automobiles, parade appearances and live public body painting. Andy has performed in the public streets on dozens of occasions, has had many brushes with the NYPD, being arrested in Times Square, and has become a beacon for artistic freedom. Media coverage includes the Wall Street Journal, the NY Times, the NY Post, the Daily Telegraph, the Travel Channel, WNYC, and many more. Andy has developed a new form of art, arranging intertwined groups of models to form a “human canvas” and create a large painting in a single sitting. Other recent work includes a mural at 5Pointz in Long Island City and a trip to South Korea to judge the Deagu International Bodypainting Festival. Andy lives in Nyack, NY with his wife and 2 children.
Jean-Guerly Pétion is a Haitian-born multi-media artist who grew up in Port-au-Prince, where his father was a news editor in radio broadcasting and two uncles were professional photographers and graphic designers. Jean moved to the U.S. in 1983, studied at Cooper Union, NYC, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Kansas City Art Institute in 1991, and moved to California, where he currently resides with his wife and musical prodigy son, to earn an MFA at the California Institute of the Arts in 1993. Jean has a wide-ranging body of work that reflects his diverse interests as a videographer, performance artist, musician, and mixed-media artist. Jean teaches at the Otis College of Art and Design and his recent work includes drawing, painting, and video, as well as experimentation in sound.
