This event has ended.

In this solo exhibition, featuring the paintings of Patricia Hacker, the artist presents a new series of work beginning with paintings that she created from September 11, 2001 onward. The exhibition opens at the Westbeth Gallery in New York City on May 18, 2013.

“I create a sensation of movement and depth,” says Hacker. “My paintings suggest forms colliding and flying apart, yet frozen in time and held together by an innate sense of balance.” This new body of work is a departure in medium for an artist who has spent many years working in oil. The exhibition will include approximately 30 works both in acrylics on canvas and watercolors.

Patricia Hacker’s paintings have been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions in galleries and cultural centers in New York City, including the A.I.R. Gallery, Pleiades Gallery, the Broome Street Gallery, Pratt Graphics Center, and the American Society of Contemporary Artists. In addition, her work has been included in exhibitions at the National Museum of Taipei in China and Chung Hsing Galleries in Taiwan, the State University of New York in Alfred, New York and Oneonta, New York, and the Guild Hall Museum in East Hampton, New York. Hacker received a B.A. from Rutgers University and graduated from The Cooper Union where she studied fine art. She received an M.F.A. from City College of New York.
