This event has ended.

Lurid vs. the Mute is an odd coupling show between bright gore filled creatures on one side, and silent pieces that need more attention than they can give on the other. Artist Roland Brito pays close attention to detail by focusing on how an object can change when seen in a different light. Picking up on the smallest nuances and emphasizing them just enough, Britos’ works are subtle and full subjective perception. The satirical cartoony drawings of James Alexander, conflict with the other two artists in the space by being larger, louder and meaner. Artist Lisandra Gomez works in a similar vein to Roland Brito in which she also has a different eye when it comes to looking at objects; her work tries to create a small habitat filled with tiny errors and fine lines. Lisandras drawings on paper disappear into the background; and can’t be seen from far. These works demand the viewer to stand as close as possible in order to fully obtain anything from them. James steals the show with his creative demented creatures, these bizarre illustrations allow you to pick the artist brain and enjoy the humorous monsters that aren’t ashamed to be up front and center.
