This event has ended.

In Jenni Freidman's exhibition at the First Street Gallery she fills the space with vibrant monotypes and ink drawings inspired by candy and flora.

Her recent work reflects a search for happiness. Continuing to be inspired and influenced by the natural world, her work now moves with more bounce than sway and vibrates more than languishes. This clear move away from the more melancholy world seen in her past work to a wholly celebratory space feels fresh and honest. According to Kandinsky's notion of inner necessity, what the artist puts into the work of art comes through to the viewer. It is clear that Freidman understands this and finds real happiness in the making. The promise of joy found in the exhibit's title is made good in the light and play seen in the works on display.

Freidman received her MFA from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and her BFA from the Hartford Art School. Her work has been shown in exhibitions across the United States and abroad. Jenni teaches at the Hartford Art School and is on the Board of Directors for Paper New England.
