This event has ended.

The exhibition includes a selection of street photographs as well as abstract and composite photos from Reinfeld’s recent visit to the capital city of Oaxaca, Mexico. This series explores the beauty found in the cyclical decay of our environment and its insistent recurring nature. Among the dozen or so photographs on exhibit are street scenes of Oaxaca in tandem with abstract views of cracks in walls, crumbling brick buildings and worn graffiti, from the same location. The delight the photographer takes in guiding the viewer between these micro & macro distillations is both playful and poetic. Whether the images are abstract or intimate views, there is evidence of civilization in them that resonates. In much of Reinfeld’s work, it can be noted that he draws connections between what is man-made and what is naturally occurring. There is evidence of the existence of life in color, form, and pattern, as well as in the imagery of neglect and social decay. While Reinfeld chooses to photograph subjects that are entropic, it could not be so without the layers and layers of human connection buzzing about in his images. From the faded hand-painted signs to the posited cups, balloons and chairs, one can feel the relationship of the modern and ancient simultaneously existing within.
