Julia Chiang "In And Out And In Between"
Fuse Gallery
This event has ended.
In And Out And In Between is Julia Chiang’s latest investigation of the confluence of objects and paintings. This exploration has led to wall hanging sculptures that are a combination of brightly colored ceramic forms engaging flat fields of color on painted wood panels. The colors inform the organic fixtures, allowing them to morph into something else. Finding parallels in ecology wherein every emission we make can potentially give life to something else, Julia imagines each form or mark as a continuous coming apart and coming together whether in painting or sculpture.
Julia Chiang is an artist based in Brooklyn, NY. Her work has been exhibited at places such as Nanzuka Gallery, Tokyo; Colette, Paris; Half Gallery, New York; Bill Brady KC, Kansas City; and Deitch Projects, NY. She has been granted residencies at Anderson Ranch, The Vermont Studio Center, and Henry Street Settlement. Julia's work has been written about in publications such as Modern Painters, Paper Magazine, Art in America, and Purple. Later this year Julia will have solo exhibitions at Nanzuka Gallery in Tokyo and Bill Brady KC in Kansas City.
