Mixing portraiture, still life, and landscape, Julie’s work remarks on the nature of human society, the cycles of life, and the possibilities of renewal alongside the entrapments of compliance and stasis. The paintings recall Renaissance and Rococo masterpieces while addressing contemporary concerns through imaginative imagery. Julie’s new body of work revolves around a tortured landscape through which she evokes new metaphors for her own present day experience.
