Following her debut at the gallery in 2007, Nicole Wermers returns with exciting new sculpture and photography. The legacy of modernism plays a key role in Wermers’s practice as well; in her new sculptures, the artist re-contextualizes and re-imagines modernist forms in ways that frame, contain and transform the spaces in which they are installed. Wermers will also present a new photographic series taken at the Rodin Museum in Paris. Situating her images of Rodin’s expressive, figurative pieces within her own handmade and sleek geometric frames, Wermers creates a compelling fusion of the classical and the modern and explores how modes of presentation affect our interpretations of the presented objects themselves.
