In acrylic and ink on paper Deanna Lee intuitively paints flowing lines and shapes that pool, drape and cluster into areas of visual tension that evoke organic forms, natural systems, geographical strata and topography. Lee's work is a mash-up of non-Western artistic traditions with Western, Modernist composition and conflicting notions of historical societal norms with contemporary identities that organically combine into visual metaphors resulting in graphic, yet, lyrical abstractions.
