Ross Bonfanti "Concreatures"
Rebecca Hossack Gallery NYC
This event has ended.
Ross Bonfanti is an anti-heroic sculptor - a demoralized Michelangelo for the new millennium. He makes Teddy Bears with concrete.
"The concreatures are cast inner forms of once loved and cherished plush toys. These stuffed animals are frozen in a petrified state that solidify their importance and recorded memory through past physical manipulation and emotional associations."
Ross Bonfanti was born in 1969, Toronto, Canada. A graduate of Ontario College of Art and Design in 1997, he has worked mainly with found objects and manufactured materials from urban landscapes. He incorporates traditional elements of drawing and painting with assemblages to bring forth the disturbing, humorous and beautiful. Bonfanti is an active member of the Toronto art scene, exhibition with many cutting edge art projects such as the Propeller Centre for the Visual Arts, AWOL Gallery and Studios and CI Art Space.
