This event has ended.

Gleaning from a life of physical and musical journeys, Marcus Burrowes produces distinct imagery that is high contrast and dynamic. A man of many cultures, Burrowes was raised in the Rastafari faith and reggae community – his mother being a dub poet – but soon discovered punk and subsequently hip hop culture. These various music genres and their corresponding album cover art are major influences on his work. “Sons of Thunder” is an album title of reggae artist Dr. Alimantado. Burrowes explains “In Rasta jargon, lightning and thunder represent an extension of Jah (God); So in a way we all could be sons of thunder.” Burrowes will be presenting drawings and silkscreens.

As the founder and creative force behind RockersNYC, one of the streetwear industry’s most recognizable brands, Marcus Burrowes has taken his life experience as a New York City resident, a native of Kingston, Jamaica, and a local of California and Washington D.C.; and used them as major influences behind both his designs and in his personal artwork. He has shown in spaces such as Museo de la Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico City), Medicine Agency (San Francisco), MHI (London)
and Swagger (Tokyo).
