Noriko Yamazaki Exhibition
Ouchi Gallery
This event has ended.
I had loved drawing since I was a child, and I studied art throughout high school and college. After graduating, however, amidst the criticisms and the complications that came out of my surroundings, I gave up on that dream. Still, I ended up submitting my work to an open call for artists at the age of twenty-five. I received a prize for my work, and I also received the impetus I needed. I decided to chase after my dream of being an artist. Under a new artist name, I pressed on, continuing to create work. The earthquake and resulting tsunami that hit Japan last year was a turning point for my work, and the way I thought about art began to change as well. Looking forward, I hope that change can carry some excitement for others just as it does for me.
