This event has ended.

Chad G comes from a different point of view than most glass artists in the scene—he is driven and inspired by his family, fatherhood and the surroundings of his native Midwest. The title of his first solo show Not in Kansas Anymore references a youthful look at life exploration and is particularly ironic given the recent harsh seasonal weather in Tornado Alley; Chad G and his family reside in Southern Illinois.
There are two constants apparent in Chad’s work: change and humor. “I guess my style is change,” offers the artist. “I am all over the place with styles and technique. It pretty much changes daily.” The artist transforms glass into animated-yet-familiar everyday objects including but absolutely not limited to: ice cream cones, logs, rockets, slingshots, wood-burning stoves, Morel mushrooms, yard tools, cheese and crayons; all functional pipes, of course. Not in Kansas Anymore features a display of 200+ pieces organized by theme. His pricing is comical in itself ranging from $51.37 upwards to $2999.94.
The parallels of his mostly self-taught style reach through every aspect of his work including the very studio where Chad G makes his art: Douglass Art Place, a former school transformed into artist studio-space named after Frederick Douglass, the self-educated slave who was a prominent figure in the abolitionist movement. Like Douglass Chad G is continually inspired to stand up for what he believes in and thus he has paved his own entertaining and original path within the functional glass industry.
