"Art Ready" Exhibition

Smack Mellon

This event has ended.

Smack Mellon presents the opening of Art Ready: Selected Work from the Artist Mentorship Program. The exhibition presents the work of nineteen students who participated in the 2010-2011 session of Art Ready. Working one-on-one with professional painters, architects, installation artists, jewelry and fashion designers, graphic designers, video artists, and photographers, the student artists created an impressive range of work in a variety of media. This includes: a digital travel photo montage; a stop-motion animation bringing household objects to life; a collage exploring teen media portrayals; articles of clothing patched and altered by hand; and paintings and drawings of both still lives from nature and characters from the imagination. Two students worked with a jewelry designer to create original rings, one student collaborated with a professional architect on a plan for a community health and recreation center, and another pair worked with commercial designers on their own teen magazine.
