This event has ended.

In his newest body of work, Cohen continues to explore the meditative quality of painting. His previous works featured circles and chains composed of clustered drips of fluid acrylic paint. Cohen often cites Zen Buddhist philosophy and the Enso paintings of 17th century Buddhist monks. For Cohen, painting is an act of meditation in which the artist and his materials are one. The new paintings revisit these forms, though now some appear to be the work of a single, bold gesture. Cohen also experiments with entirely new forms; blooms of intense color that seem to emerge from his meticulously prepared canvases, as if by magic. Like all his paintings, they seem to have the capacity to shift and change before one's eyes.
