The gallery unveils it’s newly renovated space with opening receptions for two highly acclaimed artists, Chet Zar and Craig LaRotonda. This will be both artists’ second solo shows at the gallery.
One of the world’s most recognizable dark artists, Chet Zar creates surreal depictions of otherworldly creatures. These portraits, although un-human, portray emotions that are easily recognizable & relatable, although often repressed. His work causes the viewer to look within, question one’s own mortality, and confront even the greatest of fears. Through his Grisaille painting technique, built upon thin layers of pigment, these images evolve. Veils of flesh upon his creatures, misted backgrounds, and creeping smoke add to the ethereal quality of his work, and have become his visual calling cards. His striking aesthetic has also found home in the cinematographic industry, with his work in films like Planet of the Apes, The Ring, Hell Boy, Men in Black and X-men, as well as highly acclaimed music videos for bands such as Tool.
