This event has ended.

Hadas Gallery presents the recent work of painter Ora Bialik.

In “Genesis” Bialik addresses the first chapter of Torah through abstract formal collage. Her paintings are a fresh take that open up an often literal-burdening subject.

She begins her process with large color-field paintings. The colors meld into each other providing a sense of transition. Her work is primarily acrylic with some uses of medium giving her work the gloss feel of oil. However these are just the preliminary steps to her approach to art making.

Bialik uses these practically finished paintings as color swatches to begin her true artwork. Her fantastic sense of color allows her to match the painted canvases creating a fresh vibrancy. She then cuts the canvases into strips and abstract shapes, which she interweaves to finish the piece.

The most visceral appeal is the collage element to her work. Her weaving of material and forms create a sense of rhythm that is well complimented by her colors. The edges of the finished pieces are varied which breaks any sense of repetition. There is always something exciting in her artwork.

Ora Bialik is a recent graduate of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She holds numerous degrees including a Doctorate degree in Mathematics and Statistics.
