Tabla Rasa Gallery presents "The Shaken Table," featuring 15 new watercolor paintings by Peter Gergely. Dr. Gergely's whimsical works take "going green" to a new dimension. This collection of off-beat botanicals was conceived especially for his first solo showing at Tabla Rasa Gallery in Brooklyn, New York. With a seemingly effortless gesture and application, he masters illusionistic veracity. This is an impressive achievement in what is generally agreed to be the most difficult medium in which to
paint.
An avid gardener, Peter Gergely is often drawn to home-grown subjects. Appearing to start with an orderly arrangement, the beans and vegetables seem to have a will of their own, as they defy
conforming to the plan, bringing to mind the wisdom of eighteenth century Scottish poet Robert Burns. In "To a Mouse," Burns wrote: "The best laid schemes o' mice an' men / Gang aft agley." (The best laid schemes of mice and men / Go oft awry.)
