CATMchelsea, Fund Art Now and NextTTo Me present Rebecca Zagoory's "America For Real".
In her first solo exhibition, Rebecca Zagoory confronts America and its quandary of self determination.
America's fear of confrontation, evident in domestic media, advertisements and lobbyists is in opposition with its own desire to regain world leadership. The confrontation between the values of individuality and conformity presents the American public with an uneasy contradiction.
This dichotomy is reflected in Zagoory's American Flag series, America For Real, in which accepted values are overshadowed by the distortive values of consumerist capitalism.
America's foundation has been undermined by its own success and has fostered a new America in which inequality is pervasive.
Zagoory's social commentary is a plea for the return of America's forefather's wisdom and foresight.
