This event has ended.

The works in this exhibition explore imagery related to masculinity and the pressures involved. These works acknowledge the obligation of gender roles and question the symbols and objects that define masculinity for the modern male.

Robert Karl Blake
Halfway through his study at the Art Institute of Portland for video game design he moved to New York City and completed a BFA in illustration at the School of Visual Arts in 2010. Blake has been exhibiting across the United States prior to any arts education; including Square Root, Culture Fix, the Visual Arts Gallery, and others.
Blake works blindly on the images in ink and wash. There is no sketching process, but instead develops them by covering up portions one at a time. Working in this manner eliminates any interference of the ego.

Keat Teoh
Born in New York City, Keat Teoh spent his childhood in Malaysia. He returned to the United States to study Illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Since graduating with a BFA in Illustration in 2010, Teoh has exhibited in several group shows; this is his first two-person exhibition in New York City; he has participated in several group shows including Square Root, Culture Fix, and the Visual Arts Gallery.
Half of Teoh’s process is spent on absorbing and digesting his surroundings, and from that internalized energy he projects it onto paper with layers of ink, gouache and watercolors.
