"Tension" Exhibition
Pinion Gallery
This event has ended.
The Pinion Gallery presents an exhibition encompassing various mediums entitled Tension.
Pinion Gallery is an artist run gallery in an industrial area. This exhibition will showcase work that reflects the emotional qualities of the landscape and forms that surround the gallery itself. The artists exhibiting are David McLeish, Andrew Edman and Raleigh Gardiner. Each of their works in the show centralizes around the theme of tension and chooses to execute this thought through various media.
David's work deals with both personal diary and story telling, at once. References are drawn from a mixture of memory, architecture, and people encountered along the way. He creates these environments and experiences, to capture the mood of a person who finds himself or herself somewhere unfamiliar and yet familiar. www.3dmcleish.com
The work of Raleigh Gardiner deals primarily with the moments where we are confronted with the vulnerability of life and emotion in context with the world around us. Her work draws upon these feelings and chooses to affect them. Using images of humans, animals and objects the moments she creates bring the viewer into a state of inflection of our nature that is both enlightening and dark.

Andrew Edman works in drawing, painting and sculpture. His work draws upon the influence of nature on architecture and delves into the psychology of these constructions as being both necessary and absurd. Andrew says of his work, “I am interested in exploring the inherent tension that exists between the confrontation of human architecture and uncontrolled wilderness; an instant where utopian ideology meets utilitarian need.”
