This event has ended.

Frank Brunner uses repetition to explore ideas in familiar iconographies. Whether revisiting the woods from his childhood with the integrated image of suitcases or studying the human form through reflected pools, Brunner explores repetition and perspective reminiscently. Art historical in approach, the result remains uniquely his own. Recurrences and icons are thematic from canvas to canvas as well as manifesting themselves within singular surfaces. His conceptual framework originates from his fascination of greater forces that are a combined result of smaller efforts. In the same manner, Brunner creates a great force by recalling these memories across his paintings and creates a world of eternal return, where he is curious about light and form.

Frank Brunner was born in 1971 in Oslo, Norway; he lives and works in Brooklyn, New York. Brunner studied at the National Academy in Oslo, the IlyaRepin State Academy in St. Petersburg, Russia, and completed his MFA at Yale University. He has exhibited throughout New York, Norway, Germany and France. Brunner has exhibited in Norway’s Drammen Museum, Haugar Kunstmuseum, Stenersen Museum, and Sørlandets Kunstmuseum; as well as the Stiftung Stadtmuseum, Ephraim Palais in Berlin.

Michaël de Kok seeks to provide the impact of a moment. His landscapes are solitary and vast. Whether the subject is a mountain, road, or building, De Kok reduces the scene to the basic fundamentals of line, shape, and form; creating a solitary yet familiar landscape. He explores the impact of the moment - of vast skies and open spaces - to an often blurred horizon by exploring the effects of light and dark and maintaining a limited palette of earthy colors. This revealed impact, this intimacy of solitude, shows the visual weight of the scene.

Michaël de Kok was born in 1958 in Hilvarenbeek, NL; he lives and works in Tilburg, Netherlands. De Kok studied at the Akademie St. Joost, in Breda and Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. He has exhibited throughout Belgium, the Netherlands, Greece and France. Recent museum exhibitions include Museum de Wieger, Stedlijk Museum (NL), Stadsmuseum.
