This event has ended.

Fred Torres Collaborations presents Gone with the Wind, a new photographic painting series by Luca Pizzaroni in collaboration with anonymous photographers from 1950 -1990. This will be Pizzaroni’s second solo exhibition with Fred Torres Collaborations. Fred Torres Collaborations is located at 527 West 29th Street, New York.

Gone with the Wind addresses the images that escape us through the forces of time. The images in the exhibition use original photographs that were selected from Pizzaron’s collection of thousands of found photographs that he has been building 20 years. The unifying factor in these images is that anonymous photographers took them all from 1950 – 1990. Pizzaroni built a loose narrative in this selection of these photographs, and then ties them all together by placing them face down in oil paint. The possibility of the unknown when painting and photography combine is a nod to the experimentation of Gerhard Richter, and Arnulf Rainer.

Pizzaroni explains, “My new painthography series Gone with the Wind gathers the intimate accidents of genuine novice film photographers from the 1950's to the 1990's, and adds an additional layer of accidental information through strong abstract-expressionistic oil painting and scanning techniques. These photographs, although futile and inexact, include an entire world of human values such as memories, emotions and temporality. The resulting works are a double accident that blurs the lines of medium, history, and context.”
