"Drawn in Brooklyn" Exhibition
Brooklyn Public Library (Central)
This event has ended.
Brooklyn has the greatest concentration of children's book illustrators on the planet. The 34 artists presented here do not represent the exhaustive collection, but they are a strong sampling of the borough's talent. Their diversity of cultures, nationalities and professional backgrounds mirrors the extraordinary mix of Brooklyn, and it can be seen in their unique visual vocabulary. The artists range from those who have published their first book to honored luminaries with decades-worth of books and awards to their credit.
This survey presents images created for the printed page. They were intended to illuminate stories and delight and exercise the minds of children, but each picture stands alone as a work of art.
This event takes place in Grand Lobby, Foyer Cases, 2nd Floor Balcony Cases and Youth Wing.
It was curated by John Bemelmans Marciano.
