This event has ended.

Consequential Tea: The ceramic works in this exhibition are as varied as the makers and their backgrounds, and have been made and fired using many different tools and methods. At their heart, all share a sense of place in the centuries old continuum of the ceramic arts, and more importantly, the often quiet and unassuming aesthetic that is so much at the center of Tea. Each artist brings to this table, his or her own sense of where they belong in this long ceramic history - and - what they have done themselves that goes well beyond the simple mimicry of objects past. These are, when all is said and done - 21st Century artists making 21st Century art objects. Each artist has produced Tea Bowls, Tea Vessels, and pieces not for use by Tea, to create the complex and engaging mix found in this exhibition. Whether directly Tea related, or completely non-functional, it is simple and safe to say that all the pieces in this exhibition have Tea at their core, and shibui in their heart. (Joe Campbell)
