Artist at Work: Wall Drawing in the Unisphere Gallery.

Claudia Vieira has been using a single continuous line as a metaphor for a living experience. This particular way of drawing effectively represents the passage of lived time. WaterLINE: Porto Alegre - New York began at the intersection of two perpendicular walls and the ceiling of the QMA’s Unisphere Gallery, and is growing in a clockwise spiraling, outwardly expanding movement. The continuous line, drawn with permanent marker, originates at the artist’s birthplace Porto Alegre Brazil, and follows the Atlantic coast line to Brooklyn, New York, where she currently resides. Work on the project was embarked upon in late February and will be concluding on May 16, remaining on view through October 3, 2010.
