Poems have been variously described as soul-making, life-cherishing and magic-inducing. They have been referred to as gifts, surprises, prayers and challenges. Much the same can be said about the paintings in this show. Each of the highly textured paintings has been inspired by a particular poem. Each represents a conversation with the poet and her poem, with the canvas and the color, the texture and the form and with the viewer as well.
