Pushing the confines of graphic design into the realm of fine art through a meticulously controlled brushstroke La Mega returns to New York for her second solo exhibition, REFUSED at CATM Gallery. Her frustrated but engaging characters, Miss and Mr. Duckie, journey outside their confines of La Mega's imagination into our reality and diligently record their traveling experiences and in turn invite the viewer to crossover into theirs.
Their world,although filled with primary colors lacking the advantage of hue, is a dynamic world filled with perils and adventure, the greatest being the improbability of their chase for each other. La Mega's characters represent an insatiable life balanced by a fervorant optimism. One must go beyond the simplicity of representation to understand their complexity of symbolism. La Mega shines through with her ironic observations and insights of our own reality.
