"Re Inspired - an artistic navigation of the Erie Canal" Exhibition
La Galleria - Italian Cultural Institute of New York
This event has ended.
This exhibition, which is curated by the artist Douglas Lazarus, wants to celebrate the beauty of America's first major civil engineering project - The Erie Canal.
Its concept traces back to Leonardo da Vinci, and to this day canal locks still utilize Leonardo Da Vinci's principles to raise and lower water levels on canals.
The exhibition consists of over two-dozen images: half will be original, contemporary paintings of the canal and half will be historical photos and text panels chronicling the canal's construction.
Douglas Lazarus is an artist and the manager of the Great Falls Art Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont. He has worked as illustrator and art director in the audiovisual field for many years.
The opening of the exhibition will be introduced by the following speakers:
Gerard Koeppel, Historian
The Erie Canal America's First Great Infrastructure
Anthony J. Busacca, Asset Management Consultant
The Canal and Wall Street
Dr. Harry Chaucer, Author and Educator
Leonardo: Designer of The Modern Canal Lock
