Abrons Arts Center-Henry Street Settlement presents "still lives," emerging artist Susan C. Dessel's first Manhattan solo show. The artist's curious hand-wrought toothbrushes of carved cow bone and horsehair are totems to the female struggle to keep body and soul together in a new land while still maintaining a sense of self. The installation is accompanied by a suite of drawings that plays with the past to highlight challenges faced by immigrants today.
