Mountain Fold announces the opening of “Vegetables for Breakfast,” a group show of mutated art objects. It is a show about summer in the city and joyful subversion. The pieces in the show are hybrids, for they are either artworks that serve as decoration or furniture, or daily objects that have have been deprived of utility and transformed into artworks. The works all retain some element of shape or function, but have mutated from their original purpose. The artwork becomes companion. Like living in a colorful, lucid, day dream.
Joshua Nathanson presents a custom made chair, specially designed wallpaper and 3D wall sculptures. Margaret Lee makes ultra realistic vegetables (carrots, potatoes, cucumbers) and cakes and candles that she displays on the wall. Shabd Simon-Alexander creates ceramics vases, stones and pedestals, all equally splattered in blotches of colors, blurring objects and functions.
Antoine Catala organized this exhibition, he will present a series of painted TVs switched on to your favorite channel; paintings with an ever changing background.
