Amber George & Kentaro Hiramatsu "New Work"
Susan Eley Fine Art
This event has ended.
Kentaro Hiramatsu's recent paintings marry the best of Japanese Pop cartoon culture with the artist's refined palette and elegant, meticulous brushwork. Upon close inspection, Hiramatsu's intricate, urban landscapes of parks, skyscrapers and street grids reveal communities and groupings of people at rest, at work and at play.
Working in the difficult medium of encaustic--beeswax mixed with pigment--Californian artist Amber George creates multi-layered paintings that reveal a fascination with pattern and texture in nature. Working exclusively in encaustic for many years, George has mastered the technique of creating translucent, kaleidoscopic works, filled with buried color and linear underpinnings.
