Printed Matter is pleased to announce a launch for Issue 8 of "PINUPS," an ongoing artist's publication playing on the historical centerfold practice of nudie magazines by making the centerfold the sole feature. "PINUPS" is a triannual publication that features one to two nude male models. There are no words— just an exaggeration of the classic centerfold. The magazine exists in book form but can be taken apart and tiled to reveal a life-size image. The magazine is printed in New York. Issue 8, the first of 2009, brings together Juanjo and Tony in a pictorial inspired by the gladiatorial scene in Ken Russell's "Women in Love" (1969). Two friends bond through wrestling, conjuring feelings of playfulness, competitiveness, violence and sexuality. As always, the magazine can be arranged to reveal a 70"x32" image. The issue features 25 black and white images in 56 pages.
