Printed Matter is pleased to announce the launch for Brooklyn-based press Editions and its premier publication, "The Best" by artist Rachel Domm. "The Best" is a collection of surreal abstractions comprised of images appropriated from vintage craft books as well as illustrations by the artist. Co-mingling within the book form and often on individual pages, the images play with the anthropomorphic qualities of fiber arts and its unique interpretation of the natural world. Added layers of pencil, patterns, and paint re-contextualize the tone of the materials from the original source. Rachel Domm is an artist and illustrator working in Brooklyn, NY. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, BUST, The New Yorker, GOOD, Flavorpill and many other publications. This event will serve as the launch for Editions, an independent Publishing house that is dedicated to the production of the artist’s vision through the medium of the book. Editions is devoted to publishing original works by contemporary artists, poets, historians, and writers. Its aims is to consider the book not only as a vehicle for work and content, but also a credible extension of the artist’s portfolio.
