Communication. Art, at its simplest, is a form of communication. As most forms of communication have an intent or goal directed toward another individual, this is a motivated purpose. Illustrative arts, such as scientific illustration, are a form of art as communication. Maps are another example. However, the content need not be scientific. Emotions, moods and feelings are also communicated through art.

The artists in this exhibition employ their individual styles, technique, and draw on various materials to relay the subject or message. In other words communicate.

Instead of just painting a figure or scene, these artists take an unorthodox approach and while doing so accomplish two things. One, each artist’s work communicates that the process for making art is a logically constructed affair and as thought out as that of any architect or inventor.
The choosing of the medium and composition, whether planned or through instinct the application of each component is made with a keen sensibility. Two, it forces the patron to become involved with the work, as the artist of today’s gift to the viewer is asking them to think and allowing the viewer to come interpret for themselves.

“The creative act is not performed by the artist alone; the spectator brings the work in contact with the external world by deciphering and interpreting its inner qualifications and thus adds his contribution to the creative act”.
Marcel Duchamp
