Kara Gorycki "Can We Learn From Larry Salander? Indictment Of A Self-Proclaimed Visionary" Talk

MIYAKO YOSHINAGA art prospects

This event has ended.

Kara Gorycki will be discussing the case of Larry Salander, artist and former gallery owner, who has been indicted on charges of stealing over $88 million from artists and clients. The discussion will include Salander's artistic vision (to turn contemporary art on its head), the impact of the case on the art community, and the things Kara Gorycki learned as a lawyer about how to protect yourself as an artist, gallery owner or purchaser of art. Kara Gorycki, a practicing attorney, artist and art lover, found her passion for creating things at a young age. She pursued this passion through her college years, where she minored in art and focused on painting and installation work. Kara transitioned her creative process into a career in law, where she represents a host of clients from accounting firms to ethanol producers. Kara has a growing interest in the area of art law, most recently working on the defense of an art gallery in a high profile case involving an alleged Ponzi scheme.
