Just as ephemera, humor, viewer participation and the peace movement have been central concerns within Yoko Ono's work – this part site-specific installation, part multimedia performance, MAKE LOVE WAR’s majestic, gold army bunker, surrounded by hanging aureoles of golden hearts, invites its viewer into a parallel universe, one which transmutes terror into wonder, pain into healing, death into life.
Over the course of the month-long exhibit, little marvin will cut 1000s of golden hearts from the bunker itself and blanket the gallery, floor-to-ceiling, transforming the space into a sepulcher of golden light. The artist will be available to the public during gallery hours and the gallery will also schedule private sessions for the public to cut hearts alongside the artist.
