This event has ended.

Herb & Dorothy tells the story of how a postal clerk and a librarian built one of the most important contemporary art collections in history. Devoting all of Herb's salary to purchase art and living on Dorothy's paycheck alone, the couple collected works of unknown artists based on only two rules: it had to be affordable, and it had to fit in their one-bedroom Manhattan apartment. Within these limits, they proved themselves curatorial visionaries; most of their artists went on to become world-renowned: Sol LeWitt, Richard Tuttle, Chuck Close, Robert and Sylvia Mangold, Pat Steir, Robert Barry, Lucio Pozzi, and Lawrence Weiner. Director Megumi Sasaki in person for post-screening Q&A. Director: Megumi Sasaki. 2009. 87 mn.
