"Cultural Warriors: Tribute to the East" Exhibition

Skylight Gallery

This event has ended.

"Cultural Warriors: Tribute to the East" examines the amazing history and accomplishments of the fabled East Cultural Center. Founded in 1969 by Jitu Weusi and the African Students Association, the East was a cultural and educational center for people of African ancestry. For many of today's educational, cultural and legislative leaders, it was the epicenter in Brooklyn of the 1969 civil rights and cultural movement sweeping the nation.
