This event has ended.

Undeterred by the myriad of styles poking around the art world, Philadelphia born Lynch early on adapted a very simple approach to her craft: “I paint what I experience and what moves me.” She goes on to explain, “When you walk down the same street everyday you walk with a mixture of remembering and forgetting, noticing and knowing.” Now her focus continues to be representational and serving to present an inexhaustible set of daily experiences around the city.

This show centers on paintings that demonstrate Lynch’s skill at painting her city and also the countryside around it. Her subjects shift seasonally. In the winter months she works indoors in a studio where she paints the streets: the city’s changeable weather, views of the nearby Hudson River and the buildings that are the background to it all. Come the summer months she moves outdoors- to a modest garage on Long Island where she absorbs whatever nature and the immediate environment provides as model and muse. She literally paints night and day, at ease with the lights, tenor and character of both: her vision is fed by the shifting clock.
