"Audience to Audience" Performance
The LAB Gallery
This event has ended.
Playing on the ambiguity of a commerce space that does not sell goods and cannot be entered into by the public, Sophie Loss and Veronika Spierenburg (a.k.a. Loss & V) take the idea into the domain of cinema/theatre. The artists observe and comment on the role that the gallery plays within the culture and its systems. Is it a shop? Is it a public space? Is it a display case? Mimicking the audience/consumer manipulation by first drawing attention then seducing the passers-by into stopping with a promise of being transported from the greyness of everyday experience to being a part of, belonging, and receiving attention.
Loss & V are currently searching for performers for this site-specific work. The performance involves 45 seated people who will face the street. Those seated will be instructed by an artist to follow verbal communication in response to passers-by and or the situation. Loss & V will acknowledge the contributors' names in their work as well as place limited edition certificates for the participants which constitutes a work of art. Participants should arrive by 5 pm each day for registration and quick rehearsal and ideally would be available for all 4 nights. If interested please contact Veronika (mail@veronikaspierenburg.com) with your full name, age, and contact information.
