The show Fresh Meat is a meditation on how a younger generation approaches, appreciates and creates art. All of the artists involved in Fresh Meat are native or new members of the New York community. Every generation of artist has a different relationship with art, and each artists involved in this show takes a different approach. What brings us together is our common passion. For some of us art is what makes us feel connected to our communities. For others it offers a means of expressing the isolated nature of being a human being. It offers a different means of communicating ones humanity. And for others still it is about exploring the relationship between art and the cultural institutions that have become the main purveyors and authorities on how to appreciate and relate with 'art'. It is about having a physical interaction with the pieces, and how the nature of ones experience changes when traditional boundaries are crossed.
