This event has ended.

Karadi’s deceptively thin surfaces are in fact multi-layered, meticulously built up in a combination of thin layers of paint alternately with razor thin-collaged materials. She then often sands down areas further masking the many layers. The end result, a shallow depth of illusionistic space that is literally many layers deep.

While light and her physical surroundings are injected in to her paintings, the intrinsic power of her brush strokes and the alchemy of paint are their ultimate power. Upon that closer look, the viewer may question Karadi’s instinctive qualities. Her application of paint
while seeming at first reserved, conveys a fragile sense of vulnerability, paradoxically is also applied with extreme confidence and authority. There exists no feeling of doubt in Karadi’s paintings, as she so humbly states, “I paint only and exactly what I intend to and inclusive to the prior overall intentions.” The only boundaries imposed in Karadi’s work are those imposed by the viewer. Her ability to depict and investigate space is at the heart of her philosophical and spiritual discipline. Her uncanny ability to conjure light and glare becomes her language, where layers act as the grammatical structure and the color, the rhythms of her music. The guts of a singular work show no resemblance to the final product. The destruction and rebuilding is a constant theme, the minute permutations a methodical madness as well as a meditative repose. There appears to be a clear and thoughtful exit and entry in her works, with the viewer’s visual path through the work its conclusion.
