"Architecture and Arrangement" Exhibition

LUMAS New York

poster for "Architecture and Arrangement" Exhibition

This event has ended.

People design their worlds as they wish, based on great plans and patterns. Living and work spaces are playgrounds for the creative will of individuals and entire societies. Included among these worlds may be furniture or personal items, institutions of public life like government agencies, opera houses, or subway stations. The term Arrangement from the exhibition title speaks volumes: to arrange has its etymological roots in Old French, where arrangier means bringing something into line.

While the French expression referred to the battle line, we generally speak of putting things in order today. In this group exhibition, dedicated to our thoroughly designed world, the artists steer their creations through their completely subjective and highly developed way of seeing architecture and arrangement.

Gero Gries translates his memories directly into virtual space;
Krishna Lahoti lets go of the reins of perspective to create
vertical surrounding space; Pep Ventosa gives collective memory room to play; HG Esch effects the condensation of economic space; Andreas Schmidt brings artificial space to life; Christian Stoll assembles and dismantles urban space; and Larry Yust gives space of an image unexpected length.
