This event has ended.

“A man is cursed by a goat, a strange furry being is discovered sleeping in a hedge, an engine driver can’t seem to stop vibrating in his sleep, a man overcomes his phobia of spiders...” – Travis Louie

Through his hyperrealist paintings and drawings, Travis Louie presents an alternate realm of creatures, chimera, and outcasts dressed in their finest suits. These portraits, created using several transparent acrylic layers over a tight graphite drawing on smooth boards reference old Victorian photographs. The surreality of the imagery is compounded as these eerie beings pose and engage through subtle yet unique human expressions.

This odd cast of characters is born out of Louie’s active imagination, love of science fiction, film noir and German expressionism. He has exhibited in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, Montreal, Rome, Berlin, and Hamburg. His work has been featured in several publications including Hi Fructose, Juxtapoz, Inked, Statement, and Spectrum Books.
