Gallery in The Chelsea 27th area

John Connelly Presents [JCP] originated in 2001 as a semi-nomadic project space and gallery project founded by John Connelly as a forum for collectors, critics, gallerists and artists to experience new work by promising emerging artists. Originally an extension of John Connelly’s curatorial projects, JCP’s original mission was to present a dialogue between three artists who at the time, had no official New York gallery representation.

In January 2003 a full-time program of exhibitions was launched in a small 10th floor exhibition space in New York’s Chelsea neighborhood. The gallery quickly gained a reputation for exhibiting provocative and challenging new art by a diverse group of national and international artists. The gallery’s exhibitions have consistently been reviewed in (among others) The New York Times, The New Yorker, Artforum, Frieze, Art Review, Art in America and Flash Art .

In November 2005 the gallery relocated to a 2500 sq. ft, ground floor exhibition space where we continue to encourage our exhibiting artists to change, convert and engage the gallery’s architecture. JCP is also strongly interested in supporting individuals who expand the parameters of their work in the visual arts into arenas that include collaboration, writing, curating and publishing. In 2007 JCP introduced The Tunnel Room, a new project space devoted to giving young artists a platform to introduce themselves to a New York audience.
