Freight and Volume

Gallery in The Chelsea 24th area

Freight + Volume is dedicated to showcasing the work of emerging and established artists, and in particular work that is innovative and not afraid to take risks. While Freight + Volume is especially interested in narrative and text-based material, ultimately our predominant criteria is the quality of the work itself, regardless of technique, media, content or style.
Freight + Volume was formed by combining the text-based, narrative philosophy and limited edition book focus of its two-year predecessor, Volume, with the motivation to show dynamic, visceral, and provocative new work in all media and dealing with a range of subject matter. Established by Nick Lawrence (co-founder and former partner of LFL Gallery in New York and owner of DNA Gallery in Provincetown, MA), Volume was originally adjacent to LFL Gallery at 530 West 24th Street in Chelsea and then high atop the eighth floor of 526 West 26th Street. In September of 2005, the gallery reopened its new ground floor location as Freight + Volume at 542 West 24th Street.
