Bronx Blue Bedroom Project
Gallery in The Harlem, Bronx area
BBBP is a new artist-run project located in the bedroom of the artist Blanka Amezkua in Mott Haven, South Bronx. Her intention is to create an intimate art space where contemporary artists can exhibit their work in a setting that differs radically from the already established art venues. Artists have the opportunity to participate in BBBP for the duration of one month. Blanka asks that the participating artists commit to offering a workshop in the local community and by preparing a dinner to be shared with other artists and individuals interested in the arts, during their show.
She is excited to witness her bedroom's transformation and awaits with much anticipation the new definitions that will surface through the different artistic collaborations. In addition to the workshop and dinner, participating BBBP artists will engage in dialogue to find the new meaning their works attain while being shown in a bedroom setting and discuss how the bedroom modifies its meaning through each artist's work.
BBBP encourages the participating artists to use this exchange as an asset for their continued artistic growth. Artist eligibility is based on the quality of the work and the individual's commitment to the local community.
