Pablo’s Birthday was founded by Arne Zimmermann in 2002 with the mission of championing promising young and mid-career artists, cultivating collectors from an engaged audience, and broadening the classic definition of a gallery by providing an environment that encourages dialog and conviviality. From our location at 528 Canal Street, we present a diverse group of international artists working in a wide array of media and with a variety of contemporary positions. A commitment to fostering an ever-evolving program of compelling art has developed an extended network of interest in our program, and facilitated the growth of the artists, the gallery, and our audience.

Pablo's Birthday concentrates on promoting our artists in The United States and in Europe, through in house publications of artist books, institutional relationships, and exhibitions in our gallery. Our special position in terms of being a New York Gallery with strong ties to Europe, allows for broad reach and exposure both here and abroad.

If great Art can be said to be a technology for living a richer, deeper, and more rewarding life, Pablo’s Birthday aims to provide the engineering for its broadening expression.
